Iko, Dewi wari Sikandi, 1922, teak, 48 x 15 x 15 cm, private collection.
A special feature of this statue is its loose earrings. It depicts a goddess, a dewi, who is said to be the consort of Raden Ardjuna and is known, among other things, from wajang plays. Here, she does have characteristics of a dancer, such as wearing a kain with what appears to be a variation of the parang motif. She also holds a sampur. The pose resembles that of a serimpi ngentjeng sonderan nengen (Helsdingen-Schoevers, Het Serimpi boek, 9). It is signed “ikoI22.” The collectors acquired the statue in 2018 through Catawiki and was offered at the time by an owner from Drenthe who reportedly acquired the statue through a mother from Java.
