Iko, Serimpi, before 1925, presumably teak, dimensions unknown, (no image available).

This concerns a figurine owned by Jos Schmutzer, which he sent to his sister simultaneously with a letter dated May 5, 1925, or shortly thereafter. In his letter of October 23, he expressed his delight at the fact that his sister Lili had placed the serimpi dancer in the salon. “Yes, it is a very charming figurine; you can see that the maker is a better artist than the one who made the Djokjasche dolls we brought you back then.” Source: private collection of the Schmutzer family. Letter from Jos Schmutzer to his sister Elise Anna Maria Antonia (Lili) Schmutzer, Buitenzorg, May 5, 1925, and October 23, 1925.
